Some may think it’s too early to start talking about New Year’s resolutions but Christmas has come around so fast, we’ll blink and it’ll be the new year. So before all the Christmas chaos of the upcoming few days truly begins, I thought I’d share my New Year’s blogging resolutions with you all. You know, getting a head start and all that.
Create a Instagram account and start blog photography
In November I did a post on my blogs one month anniversary where I expressed some of my future goals and this was one of them. I really want to try and create my own photos to decorate my content and for them become apart of my blog design. My main reasoning behind why I feel like it is important to have original images is because I believe that they make a blog feel more personal and branded. Here are a few bloggers whose images I love; Nadia of Miel and Mint, Bexa of Hello Bexa and Christine of The Uncorked Librarian. There are many more bloggers photography that I love which only further inspires me to do my own. I appreciate and admire how each of these bloggers create their images and I enjoy learning from them immensely.
Reach out to brands
Hopefully in the near future I’d like to feel confident and secure enough with my blog to pitch to brands about collaborations. I feel like it’s the next step and something I’d like to try with my blog. So many wonderful things have already happened thanks to Simply Chloe so working on collaborations will be another first for me and a learning curve when it comes to what I enjoy doing- sharing my writing.
Reach 1k twitter followers
Since starting my blog I have found a deep love for Twitter. Connecting with other bloggers and sharing my work has been such a rush and a pleasure to do. Between starting in late October up to now, I have reached over 500 followers and tweeted 607 times. It has been so much fun interacting with people on social media and establishing myself as a blogger. So being able to reach out to many more people is an ideal way to help grow by blog and keep up with the blogging community.
Learn more about design for the blog
I know I’ve mentioned this before in a previous post but that is because it is one of my primary future goals. Whereas writing is my main strength, design is not. And all this CSS and coding whatnot is definitely not my forte. In doing so, I’m determined to learn more about WordPress limitations and expand my understanding on self hosting. I’ve seen numerous bloggers talk about this and it seems like something to consider regarding the future of my blog and what’s best for me.
Guest blogging
I did my first guest blogging post for Stralthy recently (which you can find here) and realized what a useful tool it was to generate content and connect with other bloggers. Particularly for times when life gets busy or my creative well has ran dry, it’s nice to have another blogger feature on your blog and share their work with your followers. So in the future I’d like to do more guest posts and eventually invite other bloggers to share their writing on my blog too.
Write more book reviews
As I am such a fast reader, sometimes I’ve read 2-3 books in one week and for some reason or another, failed to make noted or write a review. I get so caught up in the story that I forget to stop and think. Also, there is always the fear that maybe people won’t like the books you read and judge you for your choice in books. Silly I know, but sometimes I do feel that way. And as I enjoy books from a variety of genres, I realise not everyone will enjoy the same things I do. With that in mind I am determined to push my boundaries and break away from any hesitations I may have about what I write. Besides, its guaranteed that not everyone will like the same books so there’s no point in holding back and trying to please everyone!
If anyone would like to share their blogging resolutions, let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear your goals!
These are great goals. In fact, I may use a few as inspiration for my own goals.
I would love to see some book reviews, particularly from a variety of genres. I also love all kinds of books, and I’m always up for being introduced to genres I haven’t read. Good luck with your goals!

Great goals here, Chloe! I think its important to strive to push yourself further with things, especially out of your comfort zone like with design! I look forward to watching you achieve all of these next year! 💗

Great goals! I just started Instagram but I’m not loving it yet. Those stories go way too fast (they’re always about giveaways but unless you have a notepad next to you, how you can remember) and I have no idea how they add those little moving animations on there (I saw a hedgehog dancing and I want!) so definitely one of my goals to learn more about it. And then I just want to take it easy and read more of more own books (I said it last year too though but I can’t resist requesting books everywhere). Merry Christmas already and a Happy New Year!

These are great goals! I’m a huge fan of creating goals and aspirations for the year ahead or even the week ahead, so this task is on my to-do list too. I hope you achieve all of them, and I’ll definitely be continuing to follow you! Merry Christmas! x

I share a lot of your goals, especially the instagram one and the brand one. It’s a shame how hard it is to build a following on instagram. I dont even know how to go about approaching brands let alone pitching a collaboration!! Great post chloe, have a great christmas and new year! x

I think you are right in wanting to expand your knowledge of how a blog works. I am definitely more of a writer than a designer, and I think that has been a sticking point in the growth of my blog. Be prepared to spend a lot of time on the whole process, though! Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year! 🙂

You’ve got some great goals. They’re very similar to the ones I had once I finished and they’re achievable with the right amount of focus and determination.
Having your own photos definitely makes your site more personal. I felt the change in vibe immediately after I agreed to do so.
It’s going to be a tough, tiring journey but, definitely worthwhile. I hope you accomplish all your goals for the upcoming year.
Happy holidays and good luck!

I would also like to reach out to more bloggers, maybe go to a meet-up as well! I hope to get better views on my blog as well and consistently promote.

Good luck with the resolutions Chloe. They are all do-able, especially as you clearly enjoy interacting on social media. I don’t really – it’s a chore (except for blogging). And authors will love you if you throw up reviews on Amazon/Goodreads – they needn’t be more than a few lines. Happy New Year.
